Every business in Derbyshire has to use a licensed carrier for its waste. Compare quotes for regular bin collections or one-off clear-outs for shops, offices, pubs, cafés, workshops and landlords.
Most council tips won't take trade waste. Derbyshire's household recycling centres are for household waste. Derbyshire County Council is trialling a paid trade waste scheme at just two sites, Ashbourne and Stonegravels in Chesterfield, and only in set early-morning and evening slots. Bin size, how often it's emptied and what's in it. Mixed general waste costs more to dispose of than sorted recycling, so separating your waste usually saves money as well as keeping you legal.
By law, you have to make sure your waste goes to someone licensed to carry it. This is called your duty of care. If an unlicensed operator dumps it and it's traced back to you, you can be fined. A price that looks far too cheap is the usual warning sign. Every company we put you in touch with is registered as a waste carrier, and you can check any company on the Environment Agency public register. Always ask for a waste transfer note or receipt showing who took the waste.
